SPORT AND RECREATION

CLIENT: Building Management and Works on behalf of Department of Sport and Recreation

LOCATION:
Selby Street, Wembley, WA

PROJECT VALUE: $26M
COMPLETED: 2015

A precinct designed for sports enthusiasts across the professional spectrum, we delivered a state-of-the-art netball facility to service the code across the region.

Intended to bring the netball community together, from grass-roots sports teams and children to elite competitors, we began our planning process with extensive consultations. These included discussions with the Department of Sport and Recreation, Netball WA, VenuesWest, Perth Netball Association, the Town of Cambridge and the State Government. Our stakeholder engagement saw us successfully able to integrate priorities of all parties within the design.

Our design’s geometry mimics the movement and pace of a match. The facility  provides four international standard indoor courts, accompanied by injury prevention and rehabilitation settings, drug testing facilities and inclusive change room facilities. Additionally, we provided workplace accommodation, administrative office space, catering and function centres and support facilities. We satisfied a myriad of stakeholder requirements, delivering an elegant, high performance standard facility that will endure.

The State Netball Centre was awarded Best State Government Building at the 2015 MBA Excellence in Construction Awards.

"We could not have achieved such an outstanding outcome without you and appreciate your advice and professionalism throughout the project".

Ron Alexander, Director General
Department of Sports and Recreation
