The facility was consciously designed to accommodate access for wheelchair athletes. The building achieves the organisation’s objective of full integration via the provision of open plan administration offices that allow physical and visual integration and interaction between professional and community sections of the organisation.
Due to the early integration of sustainable initiatives in the design, all the environmental features of the building were realised with less than a third of the quarantined ESD budget, allowing the inclusion of one of the largest Photovoltaic Solar power systems in the state.
The building is designed to a 5-star Green Star equivalency and was delivered for $3M under budget.
