Community precincts that support participation

For sport, culture or recreation, these hubs bring everyone together

Community Precinct Design

Carabiner design Community Hubs to be welcoming, inclusive spaces that foster connection and provide a range of services to meet the needs of WA communities.

We develop strategies to co-locate features and amenities seamlessly to deliver a facility that is well-utilised and financially sustainable.

These Precincts often include:

  • Sport and Recreation - such as training and performance facilities for local sporting teams, public greenspace, and precinct connections such walking trails and pathways - encouraging movement, participation and healthier lifestyles

  • Social Connections and Support - Social clubs and spaces for celebration and events, such as function rooms and multi-purpose areas, cafes and restaurants

  • Cultural facilities - like libraries, museums, community gardens and amenities for youth and seniors

  • Health and wellbeing - Gyms and fitness programs, childcare services and allied health

  • Civic and Administration - connecting residents to essential community and council services

Designed well, community hubs and precincts are multi-faceted, accessible centres that strengthen social cohesion, reduce isolation, and improve the wellbeing and opportunities for all community members.

Libraries

We believe libraries are the living room of the community. They bring together people from all walks of life, cultures, and beliefs.

Libraries boost literacy and learning, provide free access to resources and technology, and enable use of the internet and computers for those who do not have them at home or lack confidence in their use.

We design libraries to provide a place of welcoming and connection as comfortable public spaces for people to read, relax, work or study.

Museums & Art Galleries

Museums help to build a strong sense of identity, pride, and belonging, serving to collect and preserve local history, providing opportunities for storytelling and education.

They support local communities through tourism, and mixed use, adaptable spaces available for hire.

Galleries and museums provide opportunities to highlight local talent, providing a platform for display and engagement.
