Gascoyne Health District
Redevelopment Project
The Gascoyne Health District Redevelopment project included the upgrade and expansion of the facilities at both Carnarvon Health Campus and Exmouth Health Service.
“Carabiner consistently met program milestones despite the difficulty of coordinating multiple stakeholder meetings across 2 regional/remote locations. Post Occupancy Evaluation of both hospitals has demonstrated the Gascoyne Redevelopment projects achieved a high level of compliance to original Functional Brief and Business Case scope intentions.”

The Gascoyne Health District Redevelopment Project comprises the upgrade and expansion of the facilities at both Carnarvon Health Campus and Exmouth Health Service. Carabiner was first engaged in 2011 to assist with the Business Case for this project, looking at available development area and staging requirements. We were subsequently engaged to provide full architectural services for the redevelopment of the two health campuses, including new ambulatory care units at each and refurbishment of pathology, emergency and reception services.
Upgrade, refurbishment, and expansion works were staged and carried out while both campuses continued to operate successfully via collaborative design planning and construction phase management by Carabiner with all stakeholders.
At the Carnarvon Health Campus, the project delivered the following key improvements:
a new Ambulatory Health Care Centre comprising Community Mental Health services, Population Health services, Dental Health services, staff office, shared amenities, and a new entry and waiting area;
refurbishment and reconfiguration of existing facilities to accommodate the upgrade of the Emergency Department, relocation of the Pharmacy and the addition of a new four chair Renal Dialysis service;
upgrade of IT and building infrastructure and services; and
new car parking facilities for both staff and visitors.
