Carabiner joins Architectus, strengthening national capability in sport, education and health

Today we are pleased to announce our new Strategic Partnership with Architectus.

Carabiner (formerly Sandover-Pinder) has continually evolved since its inception in 1995, and our partnership with Architectus marks an exciting new chapter - one that opens the door to even greater opportunities ahead.

The integration extends Architectus’ national reach and its specialist capability across three key sectors experiencing strong demand for community-focused design.

Carabiner brings more than 30 years of local experience delivering public architecture ranging from community recreation facilities and high-performance sport centres to innovative learning environments and major health projects.

Our practice is known for its collaborative, people-centred design that prioritises long-term value and positive community outcomes. Importantly, our clients can anticipate minimal disruption, and the same trusted personnel to continue ongoing projects.

Architectus CEO, Ray Brown said: “We are delighted to welcome Carabiner to Architectus. A practice of outstanding reputation, they bring a strong local legacy, a wealth of experience in public architecture, and a deep commitment to design excellence – all of which closely align with our own vision and values.

With so many incredible growth opportunities in Western Australia, together we will deliver projects that achieve greater value for our clients, staff, and the wider community.”

Carabiner Principal, David Karotkin said: “Joining Architectus marks an exciting new chapter for Carabiner. Our ethos is to design places that genuinely support the people who use them – whether athletes, students, patients, or community members.

Becoming part of Architectus allows us to extend that commitment, propelling our local knowledge and skills onto a national stage where it can have more impact.”

With the Brisbane Olympics on the horizon and community investment accelerating across Australia, bringing the two firms together positions Architectus well for the future and for its role in supporting the major legacy projects now underway.

Our team will join the Architectus Perth studio, located in Harry Seidler’s iconic QV1 building, in the new year. The integration unlocks enormous potential for clients who will have access to more talent, and for staff who will be connected to new mentors and opportunities in a leading national practice.
